During his NBA career from 2006 to 2021 Redick played for teams like the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks. While lacking coaching experience Redick has been linked to coaching opportunities with NBA teams, in previous instances.
He recently met with the Charlotte Hornets and the Toronto Raptors showing a growing interest, in his coaching prospects. His strategic approach to the basketball game and his effective communication skills have been highlighted as strengths.
Redicks appointment comes after a search for a head coach following the departure of the previous coaching staff. UConn head coach Dan Hurley was a leading candidate. Was reportedly offered a six year contract worth $70 million which would have placed him among the highest paid coaches in the NBA. Hurleys decision to stay at UConn paved the way for Redick, who emerged as the preferred choice due to his potential for enhancing player development and his rapport with team members
