The New York Knicks, a National Basketball Association (NBA) team, are reportedly set to re-sign OG Anunoby after the star small forward recently entered free agency after declining his player option.
According to NBA insider and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks will offer Anunoby a five-year, $212.5 million contract that will make him the highest-paid player in the franchise’s history.

The deal will also include a player option and trade kicker, with the total amount falling below the $245 million maximum figure the Knicks could have offered him. The 26-year-old recently entered free agency after declining the player option for the final season of the four-year, $72 million deal signed with the Toronto Raptors in December 2020.
Despite his impressive performance with the Raptors, Anunoby was traded by Toronto along with Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn to the New York Knicks in exchange for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a second-round pick on 30 December, 2023.
It has also been reported that Anunoby received maximum offers from several NBA teams but decided to accept the Knicks’ offer to remain in New York and contend for the 2024/25 NBA championship.
The 26-year-old averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in approximately 34.9 minutes on the court per game in 23 appearances for the Knicks during the regular season, and 15.1 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in approximately 36 minutes on the court in nine appearances during their playoff run.
However, Anunoby’s tenure with the Knicks has been hampered by injuries, including a loose bone fragment in his right elbow that required surgery and a left hamstring strain. Despite these setbacks, Anunoby’s addition bolsters the Knick with a formidable duo of wing defenders in the NBA, alongside Mikal Bridges.
Selected as the 23rd overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 2017 NBA draft, Anunoby won the 2017 NBA championship with the franchise and led the league in steals in 2023.
