The fans are eagerly waiting for the rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, and according to Tyson’s promoter Frank Warren, soon they may able to know about the fight as they are planning to finalize the date of the fight within one month. Their last fight was a split-decision, wherein Usyk unseated Fury and emerged as the first fighter to become the undisputed heavyweight titlist since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
The match up between Fury and Usyk was quite dramatic and nail biting as both fighters stood all their best for the bout. Fury was deemed as the losing side, but for Warren, he is still very much sure that Fury can turn it around and get his revenge during the rematch.
"I spoke to him [Fury] after the fight and obviously when he got back just to make sure he's okay," Warren revealed to Sky Sports. "He was very disappointed but very philosophical. The rematch was signed before the first fight took place anyway, and that date will be set within the next month or so."
When asked by Sport’s Illustrated to comment on the clash of the titans, here is how Warren summed up the bout: This bout can be described as a clash between the two gladiators in the twenty-first-century century box. In preparation for the second battle, the clash, and the knockout, Warren expects that it will even be a larger show since both fighters want to defeat each other.
"It was a fabulous fight, two absolute gladiators who didn't leave anything in the ring in an epic fight in the most important fight of the 21st century," Warren remarked. "A very close fight, and I think it will be an even bigger one next time."
This is something that Warren much believes and that is why he is very optimistic that Fury will triumph the fight and regain his title in the rematch. Nonetheless, since the first fight did not go well for Fury, Warren suggests that the fighter should be able to work on his strategy and stand tall against the opponent the second time around.
When both fighters manage to regain their strength after such an intense fight, interest in their next meeting begins to grow. Warren understands the first fight was tough to Fury and Usyk, and when they face each other again, it will be a tactical battle.
"I think he can, he believes he can," Warren affirmed. "The truth of the matter is there was a point in the fight, I think, at the end of the seventh round when he caught Usyk with a couple of really good uppercuts, and he was struggling a bit, but he went back to the corner and found a second wind."
As both fighters recuperate from their gruelling battle, speculation mounts over how they will approach the rematch. Warren acknowledges the toll that the first fight took on Fury and Usyk and anticipates a strategic showdown when they square off again.
"It was a fight of two halves," Warren reflected. "Tyson knows what he has to do, and I'm sure Usyk does. Both guys were in an absolute war, which has taken a lot out of them. It will be interesting to see who it has impacted the most when it happens."
